Well, it's the end of another year, and it's been somewhat unpleasant for a lot of people, good for you if you were one of the lucky ones who sailed through. I started off the year losing the part-time position I had at a grant-making organization, and while I missed the steady routine (and paycheck, o.k. I'll admit it!) and the 'greater-good' of the work I was doing there, I was looking forward to redoubling my efforts at doing the fantasy shows, adding a few more to my repertoire, maybe looking for a few more local arts-n-crafts shows during the summer, really hitting my online stores and getting that all streamlined.
But-- I didn't exactly get everything done that I wanted. Isn't it strange how when you think that suddenly you will have a lot more time because an obligation goes away, you somehow actually end up _less_ able to do all the things you have in mind? (At least that's how it is with me.)
So-- I did not really get my own website up and running, yet. I _did_ get an Etsy store, and that has been doing well, insofar as I can keep up with it an keep stock posted, but my CafePress store has been a little neglected.
In order to remedy this situation, I have decided that I actually need _more_ to do in order for me to actually have the time to do stuff. (I'm sure there's some sort of weird sci-fi world that can be created from that unusual time vortex, but I'll leave that to the writers), so, my husband and I are in the process of adopting another child. We have a 9 year old son that we adopted, and he's been a great joy, challenge, occasional model and inspiration for my work.
My theory is, if I don't have enough time to be able to keep up with everything, I'll add a new child to the house, and then somehow I'll have time galore.
I'll let you know how that goes! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone!
