Gatekeeper

This was the first painting using a new technique to help me get my shadows deep and dark enough. It involves creating a very detailed pencil drawing and glazing the oil colors over the sealed surface.

I do all my paintings this way now, and the improvement has been phenomenal.

I scan the B&W version just in case I screw up the painting-- I can have the B&W reprinted on Strathmore paper and try again.

I'm thinking of creating a matted double print with the B&W and the color versions side-by-side. Hmmm...
